Travel Vlog: Dubai Shopping Festival 2014
I recently returned from an overseas excursion that included a short but fulfilling visit to the glamorous, Middle Eastern gem of a nation that is the United Arab Emirates. I spent a majority of my time in the city of Dubai, and as luck would have it, my trip coincided perfectly with the start of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). Described on Dubai Calendar as “a retail celebration that is a shoppers’ paradise and renowned the world-over for its amazing deals and promotions,” DSF kicks off every January, and lasts for about a month, enticing hordes of locals, expats, and tourists to the many malls and shopping hubs available throughout the city.
Inspired by recommendations, Google searches, and previous visits to the lavish Emirate, I had entered Dubai armed with a fairly long list of stores – some that I wished to visit again, and others that I looked forward to browsing for the first time. An exciting, new addition to my list was the Global Village, a large, outdoor festival consisting of multiple food vendors, carnival rides, and an array of kiosks and tents modeled after various nations across the globe.
Although that leg of my trip was only a few days long, I packed my Emirati expedition with plenty of shopping adventures – and documented many of the highlights along the way. This Travel Vlog shines a spotlight on some of the hot spots and many goodies I encountered on my recent trip to Dubai.
