Navy Blue, Peach Stripes, and a Floral Necklace: OOTD
Don’t let days off deter you from getting dolled up just for yourself! I always feel better and more productive when I put effort into my outfit of the day, and today’s ensemble, made up of navy blue and peach stripes, is a comfortable and casual—not to mention affordable—example of that.
I picked up this silky shirt-dress a year ago from good old Target! Its high-low hemline and rolled up sleeves make it a modest option with just the right amount of swag. There is also detailing on the back of the dress in the form of a small, neat cutout.
I paired the dress with some dark skinny jeans; on a warmer day you can wear this dress on its own, or consider pairing it with a pair of navy blue leggings.
Accessories are my favorite part of any outfit; this chunky, floral necklace is another Target purchase. It features rich corals, pale pinks, and shiny stones that make it a visually exciting piece. I opted for studs in my ears, to let this necklace be the centerpiece.
My day off from the usual grind consisted primarily of errands, so I ditched the heels and went for a pair of Dexter’s comfort flats—these are my go-to shoes; I can even dance in them!
Keeping in mind the focus I wished to draw to my necklace, I pulled my hair back. Straight hair and vertical stripes didn’t seem fun enough, so I added tight curls to the bottom of my hair, and then turned my attention to my makeup.
Mascara and lipstick were all I wanted today. I popped on my Kiel’s BB cream, used Urban Decay’s Naked 2 palette to add definition to my eyes, and set my face with a peachy blush. NYX cosmetics’ Soft Matte Lip Cream in Ibiza added the pop of orange to my lips, and I took it a step further by adding my trusty blue mascara (Hard Candy 1000 Lashes Fiber Mascara) to my lower lashes… Why not?!
Whether you choose a specific accessory or color scheme to play with, your mood is bound to be affected by how you are dressed. Look pretty for yourself, and use ensembles to your advantage when conquering those mundane days!
