Nail Art: A Springtime Homage To Radiant Orchid
“This week’s manicure is an homage to Radiant Orchid, Pantone‘s color of the year for 2014. Dazzling and delicate flowers featuring various shades of purple bloom from both ends of each finger nail, and stand out superbly over a white base. A dash of gold glitter at the center of each flower adds a generous helping of depth and glamor to the look, without overpowering the gentle appearance of the colorful petals and leaves.
Gorgeously effeminate and perfectly fitting for spring, this week’s manicure adds a delicate dose of Radiant Orchid to your daily look!” (Written by: Hina K.)
Nail Art: A Springtime Homage To Radiant Orchid
For This Manicure I Used: Nail Life Ridge Filler, Sally Hansen “Hard As Nails” Hardener, Essie “Rock Solid,” N.Y.C. New York Color “French Manicure” (143 A), Sally Hansen Salon Manicure “Angel Wings” (150), Revlon “Plum Seduction” (917), Illamasqua Rubber Finish “Prosperity,” Sally Hansen Diamond Strength “Save the Date” (460), Funky Fingers “Tortuga,” Sephora by OPI “What’s a Tire Jack,” Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “Rockstar Pink” (140), Sally Hansen “Mega Shine”
Start with clean, filed nails.
I applied one coat of a ridge filler, hardener, and then base coat. You only need a base coat.
Apply one coat of a white nail polish.
Apply one coat of an iridescent nail polish. (if you don’t have one, a second coat of white works)
Using foil as your palette, dab some of the lightest purple onto the foil. Using a detail brush, pain one flower on each nail with this color.
Repeat for the next two shades of purple.
With black nail polish add a few stripes to the center of the flower.
Using green, paint two leaves on each nail.
With black nail polish and a dotting tool, create clusters of 3 dots – 2 or 3 clusters a nail.
For added detail, paint glitter nail polish to the center of each nail.
Seal it all in with a top coat!
