Nail Art: Colorblock Beauty
“Geometric shapes, multiple hues, and carefully placed bling unite to create this week’s electrifying colorblock manicure!
This look features a variety of bright and refreshing summertime colors as a base, with a gratuitous amount of eye-catching orange overlapping alternating shades of violet and teal blue. The cheerful orange, blue, and purple hues on each nail are evened out by a pair of bold, black triangles, and accented with a minimal amount of bling. Large, silver gems adorn the tips of the larger black triangles, and a small, gold dot is placed at either end of each nail. Together, these multiple colors and shapes form a bold look that is as exciting as it is noticeable!” (Written by Hina K.)
For This Manicure I Used: Sally Hansen “Maximum Strength” (strengthener), Essie “Rock Solid,” Funky Fingers “Riot,” Funky Fingers “220 Volts,” Sephora by OPI “Hi Def,” Stripe Rite in Black, Sally Hansen “Mega Shine”
Start with Clean, Filed Nails.
I applied a nail strengthener, this is optional.
Apply one coat of your favorite base coat.
Take a piece of scotch tape, put it on the back of your hand and peel it off to remove the extra stickiness. Then apply the tape at an angle. Alternating nails, paint the section towards your cuticle blue or purple.
Carefully peel off the tape and using an orange stick and nail polish remover clean-up any edges your need to.
Paint the remaining section of your nails orange.
Paint a french manicure style tip. If your nail is blue and orange, use the purple to paint the tip. If you nail already has purple, paint the tip blue.
With black nail polish and a detail brush paint two triangles. A larger one from the cuticle and a small one upside down from the top of your nail.
Adding some pizzazz, apply a dab of your base coat in three dots in a vertical line down the center of your nail. Then place a rhinestone in the center and two studs all in silver on the top and bottom dots.
Apply a coat of your favorite top coat and this manicure is complete!
