Lara Dutta Launches Her New Sari Line

Lara Dutta Bhupathi went from Miss Universe to a leading lady in Bollywood overnight. Then she took a new role as fashion designer as she launched her own sari line. The vision expands with a new collection with Chhabra 555.

The line’s official name is “Lara Dutta – Chhabra 555,” not too interesting unfortunately.

The New Delhi launch showcased Lara’s outfits including some traditional Benarasi silks and then more modern net sarees. “I’ve always associated Delhi with style and I know women in Delhi are very good at putting together a look especially with Indian wear. I am excited to see what the response to this new, festive collection will be and look forward to interacting with our customer base there,” Lara shared.

Lara spoke about her history in the fashion industry with IANS. “I launched my first collection last year, but the unique thing about this range is that it is bit more traditional than the initial one. My whole idea was how different can a sari get in the modern way and this is what I have tried to do. The designs are not something that we choose to wear once in a blue moon, but it is something that we want to bring out every time when there is something special,” she explained.

The line has a range of colors, fabrics, designs, and in turn prices. Lara aims to dress women of all walks of life claiming her line as affordable. Let’s see if we spot any of Bollywood’s glitterati in her designs.
