Ravishing Red Hair: A History

I have been dyeing my hair red for about 6 years now. During that time, I did occasionally go back to my natural color and experiment with various shades of blue and green, but red is ultimately the color that empowers me.

Hair color can be a superficial trait to focus on, but it just so happens to be the one thing that makes me feel beautiful and unique.

Maintaining the Magic

In February of 2015, the results of my last visit to a hair salon were fading and felt a bit too summer-y for the frigid winter weather. So I made an appointment and headed to F.S. Charlie Salon in downtown Manhattan to address the situation.

Fatima, principal stylist and founder at F.S. Charlie Salon, has been the primary caretaker for my hair for many years. The way she handles color and uses it to compliment my skin tone is incredible, and I have never left her salon an unhappy customer.

The Process and Experience

During this particular visit, I had a hankering for something purple. The color purple is in itself a fashion trend, and conveniently stands as a signature color for me; I thought it would be the perfect hue to deepen and enhance my hair’s color for the last leg of the winter season.

Three separate dye pigments and many foil rectangles later, the color of my hair is a rich, jeweled tone and encompasses everything I wanted for a winter look! Through all of this, there was no need for any bleach; in fact, the last time that bleach actually touched my hair was in September.

Although the combination of two shades of red and a distinct purple actually keeps the latter shade from stealing the spotlight on my hair, the ultraviolet hue will ultimately take center stage in the spring.

Pampered, Purple, and Feeling Pretty

I was treated to lovely head massage during the shampoo stage, and received a stunning blow out that I will forever strive to recreate.

The end result of this trip to F.S. Charlie Salon is that I feel beautiful – I have healthy hair, a cut I can style with ease, and a vibrant color. Was my mission accomplished? Of course! I am one happy customer!
