2013 American Music Awards Fashion
Red carpet Hollywood events call for long gowns and class where as music award shows invite edge, sass, and everything you can imagine. The 2013 edition of the American Music Awards was tamer than expected, but the fashion was still evident.
For the men, we saw bowties and messy hair, but the real trend was purple! Here’s a sample of the purple looks. (Florida Georgia Line, Lance Bass, The Ceremonies)
The ladies were seen in many colors and styles, but even amongst them there was a trend. Check out all the ladies in white!

Christina Aguilera: Maria Lucia Hohan dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, Jimmy Choo bag, Lorraine Schwartz jewels. A classic look expected from her.
Kendall and Kylie Jenner
Miley Cyrus: Versus Versace suit, Saint Laurent shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Mature and chic from Miley, much like her March 2012 Cosmopolitan Magazine cover.
Nicole Ritchie: Emilio Pucci dress, Casadei shoes, Thomas Wylde fur, House of Harlow 1960 clutch, vintage Gucci ring, vintage YSL earrings and necklace. Nicole is soo skinny all I see is bone.
Zendaya: Donna Karan dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, Swarovski bag, John Hardy jewels. Her hair extensions are ridiculously long, the wrong color, and so distracting. Are you paying homage to Cher?
What’s a red carpet without some black dresses? Here’s a picking.

Katy Perry: Oscar De La Renta gown, Olympia Le-Tan Websters New World clutch purse, polka dot nails. Sweet and dainty, beautiful choice!
Jordin Sparks: Jovani Couture dress, Schutz shoes, Pink Accessories, Charles Albert, and Vince Camuto. Great balance of red carpet and rocker edge.
Ke$ha: one shoulder gown with an Angelina Jolie slit, blue and pink hair. The whole look felt like a copycat with Angelina’s dress silhouette and Lady Gaga style hair and make-up.
Lil Mama: Loved the green, but wish the wait wasn’t as stark as it is.
Ciara- J Mendel gown. There is always one artist who pushes the limit with how much skin is allowed. Ciara’s dress is sheer precision.
Colorful dresses tend to be the ones that make an impression. Here are the honorable mentions.
Jennifer Hudson: Dior dress, Charlotte Olympia shoes, Sutra and Le Vian jewels Swarovski clutch. I did not like anything about this look, poor pit, sated color combination, awkward hemline, brassy hair.
Lady Gaga: Head to toe Versace. Gaga is in a Versace dress similar to one she was photographed in for her new ad campaign. The soft, romantic look was unexpected and beautiful.
Taylor Swift: Julien Macdonald dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, Lorraine Schwartz jewels, Tod’s clutch. She looked like a million bucks in that dress, but the hair and make-up aged this young 23 year-old.
Ariana Grande: Dolce & Gabbana gown, Sergio Rossi shoes, Jimmy Choo clutch, Tacori jewels. The look is a cross between a Christmas fashion choice and Jessica Rabbit.
